Reading Difficulties and Dyslexia
Dyslexia can be broadly defined as a specific learning difficulty affecting reading, writing and spelling. We say ‘broadly defined’ because children with dyslexia can have difficulties which affect other areas of learning, including memory and processing speed, as well as learning how to learn (metacognition). For this reason, children with dyslexia may still experience learning difficulties despite improvement in their reading skills.
The difficulties associated with dyslexia can affect all areas of learning. As a result of this, individuals with dyslexia frequently develop compensatory strategies to cope with these challenges. No longer an invisible disorder, dyslexia is now firmly established as a learning disorder with a neurological basis in the brain. Our brain training programme works on the weak cognitive areas that affect those with dyslexia.
